Additional Information:
This is an unusual pair of trays. We have tried to research them for
their proper name and cannot determine if this shape is supposed to be
that of a large butter pat, a coaster, an ashtray, a trivet, a spoon
rest, a salt cellar or just a small plate.
In our opinion, they are too big for either salts or butter pats and
coaster or trivet seems the most likely.
There are two impressed bars on the bottom across the crossed
swords. This supposedly indicates that there is some kind of
factory flaw in the design however, we have carefully examined both
pieces and can find absolutely nothing wrong with either piece but felt
we needed to mention it for accuracy.
Both pieces have a cobalt blue mark under glaze in addition to the
crossed swords however it is illegible on both pieces. There are
incised or impressed marks on both pieces. They appear to be;
N234 and also 59 followed by what looks like a mark with three sides of
square.
These trays will arrive at your home clean, ready to use or give as a
gift.
