Additional Information:
Meissen
has been a name associated with the finest porcelain ever made and
continues to be such today. The artwork of this piece is magnificent
and exceptionally detailed right down to the beautiful rose finial on
the cover.
This is a hard to find jam pot and will make an extraordinary addition
to your Meissen Blue Onion collection.
There are two
impressed bars across the crossed swords on the bottom. This supposedly
indicates that there is some kind of factory flaw in the design
however, we have carefully examined both the plate with attached jam
pot as well as the covered lid and can find absolutely nothing wrong
with either piece but felt we needed to mention it for accuracy.
There is a cobalt mark under glaze that appears to be 31-. There is an
impressed 8 followed by what might be the year mark of 1962 however
there is also an impressed mark that is a V that could stand for the
years 1952, 1955, 1965 or 1967. We just can't be sure of the exact date.
