Additional Information:
Ikaros Pottery, sometimes referred to as Icaros Pottery, was started in
the 1920s by Mr. & Mrs. Costa Hadjicostantis in Rhodes, Greece
and continued in service until their untimely demise from an automobile
accident in the 1980s.
The factory was originally a school where Hadjicostantis taught people
how to make pottery, paint it and glaze it.
This cup and saucer is a beautiful mixture of shades of greens and
blues in a very Mod style that is reminiscent of the 1950s and 1960s
with its floral design.
In addition to the marks listed above stating that this cup and saucer
are handmade, there is also a 5 which is probably either the pattern
number or the artist's number.
This cup and saucer is very unique and will make a nice addition to
your collection. It is extremely hard to find and since the factory has
been out of business for approximately 25 years they are becoming more
scarce as time goes by.
This cup and saucer will arrive at your home clean, ready to use,
display or give as a gift.
