Additional Information:
This is a beautiful and very stunning vintage silver mesh coiled or
spiral snake wrap bracelet by Whiting and Davis Co. This elegant piece
is in excellent condition and extremely popular.
Please
note: This bracelet is in perfect condition! Some of the pictures show
some beige spots which are actually a reflection of my arm. We tried to
eliminate them but to get good clear pictures we had to be closer and
as a result the reflections showed up. Again the beige spots are
reflections only and are NOT on the bracelet. There is NO damage to the
bracelet and it is not missing any of the mesh.
This wonderful spiral snake bracelet measures 2" inside diameter
without stretching. It stands just over 1 1/2" when lying on a table.
This bracelet, which was acquired at a New England estate, is in
excellent condition and has the Whiting and Davis cartouche on the
underside of the head of the snake. It dates to circa 1920s to 1930s.
This fine vintage piece would make a terrific addition to any
collection or will make the perfect gift.
Whiting and Davis Corporation from Plainville, Massachusetts was
established in 1896 when Charles Whiting and Edward P. Davis bought out
the Wade Davis Company. They began production of their famous metal
mesh bags and changed the name of the company. In 1907, Whiting bought
out Davis's interest in the company and incorporated, keeping the
company name.
Also in 1907 they added jewelry of Victorian and Art Nouveau
influences. Their mesh spiral snake bracelets are highly sought after
by collectors as are their handbags and purses. Be sure to see our
three different Whiting & Davis handbags while you are here.
This is the perfect opportunity to add a beautiful prized bracelet to
your collection. Enjoy it by using it, just looking at it or give it as
a gift.
Whiting & Davis began making this timeless spiral snake
bracelet in 1907 and it is still extremely popular today with many
movie stars
wearing them. We estimate this piece to be from the 1920s to 1930s.
