This piece along with many others that can be found on our Jewelry
pages are from an estate in the Boston area. They were owned by an
elderly woman that passed away in 1977.
This is a beautiful butterfly. It is silvertoned metal with an enamel
front. The colors are vibrant. They are yellow, gold, and black.
It is stamped on the back SFJ but unfortunately we could not find any
information on the company. It also has the number 48870 which may be
the model number or the painter's number. If you have any information
about this company we would be interested to know.
Interesting Fact: Yosemite Antiques is located in Mariposa, California.
The word mariposa when translated to Spanish means butterfly. When you
buy this cute little butterfly you are buying a mariposa.
